Man in court accused of fraud by posing as millionaire

A MAN who is alleged to have conned members of the public out of hundreds of thousands of pounds by posing as a wealthy man with terminal brain cancer has had his case adjourned by a court.

Jonathan Price, 42, of no fixed address, appeared via a video-link at Teesside Crown Court from Holme House Prison.

He faces 20 counts of fraud over a period dating back to 2010, allegedly committed in Darlington and across the region.

His barrister Sean Grainger said the basis of Mr Price's planned pleas had not been fully established and asked for a three week adjournment.

None of the charges were put to the defendant during the short hearing and he was remanded in custody by Judge Peter Armstrong.

The case will be heard again on February 26.
