Anyone who works with children and who would like to pick up some free invaluable and practical outdoor skills is invited to sign up for a new course. Middlesbrough Environment City’s Forest Schools Basic Practical Skills will offer insights into nature, tools, shelter making, fire craft and risk assessments. The training takes place both indoors and outdoors at Middlesbrough’s Stewart Park and runs over one weekend, with 50 places available. Those applying are expected to have a reasonable level of fitness. Course dates are February 16 and 17, and 23 and 24; March 16 and 17; April 20 and 21; and June 8 and 9. GARDENING CLASSES: People wanting to learn new gardening skills are invited to come along to the visitor centre at Stewart Park, Middlesbrough, for hands on lessons every Monday afternoon between 1.30pm and 3.30pm. ASSAULT APPEAL: A man needed hospital treatment for an injury to his face after an alleged assault in Goldies pub on Stockton High Street. The incident happened at 12.15am on Sunday, December 30 (CORR). The victim was assaulted in an apparently unprovoked attack. SHED BLAZE: Firefighters were called to extinguish a shed which was damaged by fire. One engine from Redcar fire station went to the small blaze on Rushpool Close on the South Lakes estate at 12.47pm on Wednesday, January 30.
