Club launched for obese youngsters

A CLUB to help obese and overweight seven to 13-year-olds get healthy and have fun doing it will be launched at Hambleton Leisure Centre, Northallerton, during the February 18 to 22 half-term holiday, from 9am until 5pm. FUNDS THANKS: Thirsk and Northallerton Lions Club have thanked Romanby residents and shoppers for donating £976 towards its chosen charities during its festive season fundraising drive.
HISTORIC TALK: The role of hunting in medieval societies will be in focus at Northallerton and District Local History Society’s meeting at Sacred Heart Church Hall, Thirsk Road, Northallerton, at 7pm on Tuesday, February 12. Entry for non-members costs £2.50.
TEA ROOM REVAMP: The National Trust’s Victorian tea room at the gates of UN World Heritage site Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal, near Ripon, will be closed between Monday, (February 4) and Friday, February 15 for refurbishment. Historic images of the tearoom and lakeside will be on display in the café when it reopens.
ON TRACK: Ian McInnes will present a talk with films entitled Railways and Remembrance to the Northallerton branch of the Wensleydale Railway will meet on Monday, February 18, at 7.30pm at Northallerton Cricket Club, Farndale Avenue, Northallerton.
