Reward offered after boilers stolen from housing development

A CONSTRUCTION company is offering a substantial cash reward for information which leads to a successful conviction after boilers were stolen from properties on a housing development in Darlington.

Police believe that a series of burglaries took place between 4pm on Monday (January 28) and 7am the following day at a building site in Haughton Road.

Five partially-built houses were entered by thieves, who removed Logic and Combi 35 boilers, each worth between £800 and £900.

Entry was gained by forcing open kitchen doors which back directly onto Dundee Street and Montrose Street.

Detective Constable Neil Stannard, of the Darlington serious crime team, said: "These brand new boilers were stolen along with accompanying instruction booklets so it is likely the thieves intend to sell them on.

“We would like to hear from anyone who is offered one these items or has any information about the burglaries, or those responsible."

Det Con Stannard added that Whitfield’s Building Services Ltd, the company constructing the houses, is offering a substantial cash reward for any information which leads to a successful conviction.

The exact amount of the reward being offered has not been disclosed.
