Man cut free after Coxhoe smash involving a lorry and van

A man was taken to hospital tonight after a collision between a lorry and a van on the A177 at Coxhoe, County Durham. He had to be freed from the wreckage by firefighters using hydraulic cutting equipment.

The accident happened at 5.47pm and was attended by police, ambulance and fire crews from Durham, Spennymoor and Bishop Auckland. No details of the man's injuries are available.
