A COUNCIL is set to discuss plans to sell four of its sites across the borough for the development on Eco Homes.

Members of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council’s cabinet will look at disposing of Ings Mews, Redcar Lane, Redcar; the former Micro cafe, 101 High Street, Skelton; former Guisborough Education Centre, Wilton Lane, Guisborough; and the Stable House, Water Lane, Loftus, during a cabinet meeting tomorrow (Tuesday, January 29).

Councillor Lynn Pallister, cabinet member for housing and neighbourhood renewal, said: “The council recognises that there is a need to provide high quality housing in the borough and these opportunities for small scale development and conversion should help to gauge interest from potential developers.

“The Eco Homes in South Bank which were completed last year have proved to be really popular. They were the first of their kind in the area to emit no carbon dioxide with some residents saving up to £1,000 a year on energy bills.

“The South Bank development also created employment opportunities and it would be great if we could build on its success with some new smaller schemes in the borough.”
