North Yorkshire is named as a leading culinary destination
7:19pm Sunday 27th January 2013 in News
NORTH Yorkshire, best known for its spectacular scenery, has today been named as one of Britain’s best culinary destinations.
The county features in a list of the top 50 gastropubs in Britain with the highest number of entries - four - for a county outside London.
The gastropubs in North Yorkshire include The Star Inn in Harome, near Helmsley.
The list was produced by a poll of food writers, chefs and licensed industry executives for the trade magazine, the Publican’s Morning Advertiser.
The magazine’s editor, Rob Willock, said: “The best pub food now competes on quality with the top restaurants, and arguably offers better value for money.
“This year’s list combines many long-established gastropubs with several new operators.”
