A MAN arrested in connection with a crash that killed a 27-year-old in North Yorkshire has appeared in court.

Douglas Robertson died on Saturday, January 19, after he was struck by a silver Range Rover in North Road, Stokesley.

The 23-year-old man, from Wingate, Durham, was arrested in connection with the crash yesterday, and charged with one count of aggravated vehicle taking.

He appeared before York magistrates on Saturday (January 26), and was remanded in custody until later this week. (January 31)

Five other people have also been arrested in connection with the incident, including a 15-year-old youth who was charged with causing death by dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, driving without a licence and driving without insurance, and appeared at Northallerton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

He was remanded in custody to appear at court again on February 1.

A 48-year-old man from Brompton on Swale, who was charged with obstructing an officer in the execution of his duty, was released on conditional bail.
