A RUGBY league team is celebrating after reaching the finals of a national contest to win a £1,000 sponsorship deal and training session with a top England club.

North Yorkshire Broncos, based in Colburn, near Catterick Garrison, is one of five amateur rugby clubs to make it through to the closing round of menswear brand Jacamo’s competition to find the UK’s most dedicated side.

Now friends, family and residents of Colburn are being urged to vote to help the Broncos bag the sponsorship deal and training session with Wigan Warriors.

Coach Dave Carter said the big cash prize will give the club a great boost in 2013 – helping to buy a new kit for the whole team.

He said: “During the last two years the lads have worked hard and developed well, both as individuals and as a team, working together and supporting each other to build a fantastic team spirit, which saw them reach the semi final of the North East cup in 2012."

Chosen by a judging panel including Warriors’ manager Kris Radlinski, the Broncos now face a public vote via the competition’s official page: www.facebook.com/jacamouk.

Voting is now open and closes on Friday, February 15, and the overall winner will be announced on Monday, February 25.
