Darlington man in public vote to find Britain's best groomed man
A NORTH-East man has made it to the final of a national competition to find Britain’s best groomed man.
Les Langley, 46, from Darlington, is one of 30 men from around the UK who will face a public vote to choose a male who can match the sharp dress sense and stylish looks of some of Hollywood’s leading men.
The competition has been organised by shaving brand The Bluebeard’s Revenge in conjunction with men’s cancer charity Orchid as part of a campaign to encourage men to self-check for signs of cancer as part of their daily grooming routine.
Mr Langley, who owns the Aspire bar, in Darlington, is the oldest man left in the competition and said he decided to enter in tribute to family members who have fought cancer.
He added: “I’ve always tried to look after myself, although I’m a bit of a wash and kind of fellow. I’m unfortunate in a way because I’ve always got a five o’clock shadow. I try to leave shaving as long as possible but I just can’t do it.”
Rebecca Porta, chief executive of Orchid, said: “The bathroom is the prime place for men to check for signs of male cancer. Our research shows that three quarters of UK men recognise that a lump in the testes could be a sign of testicular cancer - but 25 per cent still never check their testes.
“Checking testes takes less than five minutes and is a vital first step in the battle against testicular cancer. If caught early enough there is a 98 per cent chance of survival.”
The winner of the public vote will receive a one-year modelling contract as the face of The Bluebeards Revenge.
