AN MEP will meet with youngsters from Darlington tomorrow (Friday, January 25) to discuss the issues raised at a recent youth conference.
Stephen Hughes MEP will meet with a group of young people at C:The Box, in Priestgate.
The youngsters recently attended a conference, in Darlington’s twin town of Mulheim, in Germany, along with young people from 11 European countries.
They want to tell Mr Hughes about their experience and to enlist his help in moving their agenda forward in the European Parliament.
Issues to be discussed include:
• Mobility on the European job market;
• Entrepreneurship – creating jobs for other young people;
• Qualifications and internships;
• Studying abroad without boundaries.
Mr Hughes, who last year announced his decision to stand down at the next European elections, said: “I am really looking forward to hearing about the conference and the issues they discussed there.
“I have been leading on combating youth unemployment in the European Parliament on behalf of the Socialist group.
“I am sure I will be able to offer these young people advice and practical assistance in moving their agenda forward.”
