A SINGING marathon held before Christmas has raised more than £1,000 for charity, organisers have announced. The event, at The Forum, in Borough Road, Darlington, on December 23, included a three-hour singalong by 44 of performers under 16. Organiser Viveca Bradshaw said the “fabulous” event raised more than £1,000 for Age UK and was attended by more than 200 people.
PUB WATCH: Three people have been banned from Darlington town centre pubs participating in the Pubwatch scheme, for alcohol-related violence. Darlington police said the action served as a message that licensed premises in the town centre do not tolerate alcohol-fuelled bad behaviour.
CHURCH EVENTS: A ‘knit and natter’ session will be held at St Herbert’s Church Hall, in Yarm Road, Darlington, from 10.30am to noon, on Saturday (January 26). A collection will be taken for the charity War Child. Meanwhile, on Sunday (January 27), a free Fun at Four session will be held in the church hall, at 4pm, with activities for children aged 11 and under, and their families. All are welcome.
