A MAN is fighting for his life in hospital after being attacked and beaten in the street.
The 50-year-old victim is in a critical condition following the assault in the Acomb area of York on Monday, January 21.
A local man, he was attacked on Acomb Road, by the corner with Fairfax Court, at about 7.40pm. He was first taken to York Hospital but was later transferred to Leeds General Infirmary for specialist treatment.
A 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy have been arrested in connection with the incident. They remain in police custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Ian Dyer said: “It is vitally important that all witnesses to the assault do the right thing and contact the investigation team as soon as possible."
