A GIBSON electric guitar worth almost £2,000 has been stolen from a Darlington music shop.

The £1,900 instrument was taken from Ron’s Music store on Blackwellgate sometime between 11am and 11.30am on Saturday morning. (January, 19) It was fastened to a wall by a security bracket but the thief broke the lock and left the store unnoticed with the guitar.

There were several customers in the shop at the time and investigating officer PC Lindsay Robson said: “It is just unbelievable how somebody has managed to walk out of the shop unnoticed in the middle of a Saturday morning.

“I’m hoping that somebody somewhere has seen something that could help us; a lot of people would have been around the town centre at that time.”

The body of the guitar is pale yellow, with the colour darkening towards the edges, and it is a Gibson Sunburst model.

Anyone with information about the theft or thinks they have been offered the guitar should contact Darlington Police on 101 and ask for PC Robson.
