A RARE opportunity has arisen with a vacancy at east Cleveland’s famous almshouses in Kirkleatham.
To qualify for the house, which is suitable for a single person or a couple, potential residents need to be aged over 60 and be able to live independently.
They must have a reason for needing the support of the almshouses, whether it is because an applicant's existing home is inadequate, inappropriate or difficult to manage.
John Davies, clerk to the trustees, said: "A new resident was all ready to move in but due to a change in circumstances was unable to take up the offer.
"We maintain a waiting list for people who would like to be considered but are not ready to move immediately.”
The almshouses, near Redcar, cost from about £320 per month, excluding utilities and council tax.
The accommodation comprises a living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and a small cottage garden.
Shared facilities include the laundry room, common room, summer house and use of the visitors' accommodation suite.
Full details of the accommodation and how to apply are on the almshouses' web site at:
www.communigate.co.uk/ne/swthospital.
The property will be open for public viewing on Saturday, January 5 and Sunday 6 from 10am - 12.30pm and 2pm - 4pm. Call 01642-482828 for an application form.
