ARSIONISTS are believed to have been behind two separate incidents in which cars were destroyed on neighbouring streets.

The first attack happened at about 1am today, December 27, when a Vauxhall Astra was set ablaze in Wentworth Road in the South Bank area of York.

And just minutes later, a separate team of firefighters were called to deal with another car fire, which wrecked a Renault Clio in nearby Albermarle Road.

It is not yet known whether the two attacks are linked, but North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said both fires were believed to have been started deliberately.
