A WOMAN was rescued by firefighters from her home in Darlington tonight.
The blaze broke out in a semi-detached house in Holmlands Road, near Cockerton, at 10.44pm.
Two crews from Darlington, one from Newton Aycliffe and one from Bishop Auckland were sent to the scene after one person was reported to be trapped.
A fire service spokeswoman said that a female adult was rescued by firefighters and was given oxygen.
A ground floor back room was well alight and the crews, wearing breathing apparatus, tackled the flames using two hose reels.
The crews left the scene at 23.44pm reporting that the house had been slightly damaged by fire but had been completely smoke-logged.
