RACING will go ahead at Sedgefield racecourse on Boxing Day after a successful inspection, although parking will be restricted due to previous rain.
Visitors to the county Durham course are being urged to make use of a free bus service running between the course and Sedgefield due to restricted parking.
Racecourse manager Jill Williamson said: “A positive forecast and high winds have allowed the racecourse to pass a noon inspection on Christmas Eve to state Boxing Day Racing goes ahead.
"No more inspections are planned due to the positive forecast predicted and gates will open from 10am.
“Due to the wet weather parking will be restricted and we are expecting a bumper crowd so if possible leave your vehicle at home.”
The free minibus service will run from 10am outside the Crosshills restaurant in the centre of Sedgefield and will drop off at Queens Crescent.
