COMPASSIONATE pupils at Barnard Castle School are bringing a smile to underprivileged children in eastern Europe this Christmas.
The school organised a shoe box collection for the Samaritan's Purse appeal and as a result, 169 parcels were collected which have been sent to youngsters in Romania and Serbia.
The school has supported the appeal for the past eight years and politics teacher Andrea Campbell addressed an assembly to Year 7 children on the merits of packing a shoe box full of presents.
“The Samaritan’s Purse is a worthy cause and it is wonderful to know that in all, over a million underprivileged children around the globe will be receiving gifts this year,” she said.
