Darlington news in brief

CARE HOME: Youngsters who took part in the National Citizenship Service scheme this summer visited Elderwood care home, in Westmoreland Street, Darlington, this week, to decorate part of the home for Christmas. It was the second time the home had been involved with the project, after a group of students planted bulbs in the home’s garden earlier in the year.

COUNCIL MEETS: Darlington Borough Council’s place scrutiny committee meets at 9.30am on Thursday (December 20). Members will discuss planned changes to household waste recycling.

HOLY GRAIL: Monty Python and the Holy Grail (15) will be screened by Darlington Film Club, at The Forum, in Borough Road, on January 14, at 8pm. Wings of Desire (PG) will be shown at the same time on January 21. Admission costs £3 and there will be free popcorn.

RACE NIGHT: A race night in aid of Darlington Football Club will be held at the Cleveland Bridge social club, in Neasham Road, on February 9. Full details to be announced nearer the time.
