FAMILY SERVICE: Windmill Methodist Chapel will host a Christmas family service on Sunday, December 23, at 10.30am. The service will be led by Ruth Dent. All welcome.

WHEELCHAIR ACCESS: Disabled access is being installed at St Mary's Church, Middleton-inTeesdale, in time for Christmas. The new path towards the church's bell tower brings visitors to a door in the west wall and means the whole of the nave area is fully wheelchair accessible.

CHURCHES TOGETHER: Rev Beverly Hollings will lead an Upper Teesdale Churches Together service on Sunday, December 30, at Newbiggin Methodist Chapel. The service starts at 2.30pm. All welcome.

COPPER BEECH: Parish councillors in Cockfield have agreed to replace a copper beech tree planted on the village green more than 30 years ago to mark the 100th birthday of villager Jane Liddle. The tree was chopped down recently after it died. Councillors say its replacement will be planted when the weather improves.
