POLICE officers investigating alleged corruption within the Cleveland force have arrested a man in Wales on suspicion of fraud, corruption and money laundering.

The man, who has not been named but is aged 52, was arrested at an address in Pembrokeshire. Several vehicles and two properties were being searched this morning.

The arrest is part of Operation Sacristy, a police investigation into alleged corrupt activities within Cleveland Police and the former Cleveland Police Authority.

Before today’s arrest, nine people had been arrested as part of Operation Sacristy. One person has been released from police bail, with eight remaining on bail pending further inquiries.
