THE Royal Mail has extended the opening time of its delivery office in Darlington in an attempt to make life easier for people in the run up to Christmas.
From now until Christmas Eve the normal opening hours at the town’s sorting office, off Victoria Road, will be extended to make it as convenient as possible for customers to pick up parcels after a missed delivery.
The Royal Mail has asked all customers to pick up their parcels or get them redelivered as soon as possible to help during the company’s busiest time of year.
The Darlington delivery unit for postcodes DL1, DL2, and DL3 has opening hours from 6.30am until 8pm every day up to Friday, between 6.30am and 5.30pm on Saturday and between 6.30am and 3pm on Christmas Eve.
Pete Dickinson, Royal Mail’s delivery sector manager for the Darlington area, said: “Christmas is the busiest time of year for Royal Mail and our customers. We know that many people don’t want to wait for redelivery so we are extending our opening hours to make it easier for customers who want to pick up their parcels in person.”
