A MOTHER-OF-TWO is battling with American reality TV stars the Kardashians over claims their new range of cosmetics is similar to the one she created two years ago.

Jay Willey, of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, claims her company Kroma sent samples of its range to the Los Angeles family’s make-up artist in mid-2011 in the hope that sisters Kim, Khloe and Kourtney would endorse the products on their Keeping Up With The Kardashians show.

Mrs Willey said she had been infuriated to hear the celebrity sisters and their branding company Boldface are due to launch their Khroma range later this month.

She said: “I’ve been working on this for two years, since October 2010, building up the brand in the EU, contacting major retailers, trying to make Kroma an established make-up brand.

“They even appear to have used the same font as ours on their packaging. But we are fighting back.”

Mrs Willey said talks with the Kardashians’ lawyers had resulted “an insulting financial offer” and she believed the celebrity sisters wanted to make the battle expensive so “that we’ll lose heart and disappear”.

She said: “I know the Kardashians themselves will be sat on a beach somewhere having their pictures taken. It’s the machine behind them that we’re taking on.

“It just seems so unfair. Those girls are meant to be role models. Young girls everywhere look up to them.”

A spokesman for the Kardashians said: “Boldface has gone through the appropriate legal channels in obtaining the rights to use the name Khroma Beauty by Kourtney, Kim and Khloé, making all proper legal filings.

“We do not believe that there is any likelihood of confusion between Khroma Beauty by Kourtney, Kim and Khloé and any other entity, given that it is clearly marketed together with the famous Kardashian brand name.”
