THE lucky winners of a wedding competition met with a cake specialist at the weekend, to discuss the requirements for their forthcoming nuptials.

Zoe Coleman and Brett Barraclough, 22 and 23 respectively, from Darlington, were victorious in The Northern Echo’s Win a Wedding competition, in July.

The couple will tie the knot on June 30 next year, in front of 50 family and friends, at Redworth Hall Hotel, near Darlington.

They spent part of Saturday discussing wedding cakes and favours at Creations by Paula Jane, in Bondgate, Darlington.

The shop, owned by Paula Town, specialises in wedding cakes and stationery, including invites.

Miss Coleman and Mr Barraclough chose a three-tier cake, with a mixture of lemon, chocolate and plain sponge.

It will be finished in red and white detailing, as will their invitations, tying in with the colour scheme they have chosen for the wedding.

Miss Coleman said: “It was really, really good, we managed to pick our cake and invitations, we we were really happy.

“We did some cake-testing, which was really nice.”

Mr Barraclough and Miss Coleman won the competition, for a dream wedding, in a public vote earlier this year, beating competition from 32 other hopeful couples.
