Youths attempt to rob to female motorist in Brotton

TWO youths tried to rob a female motorist after one of them lay down in the middle of the road forcing her to stop.

As soon as she pulled up a second man appeared and opened the car door and demanded the driver’s bag.

The 55-year-old was driving along Coach Road, near to the junction with Laburnum Road in Brotton at around 7.15pm on Friday night when the incident happened. The woman managed to close her car door and drive off.

The first youth is described as around 16-years-old and wearing dark clothing.

The second suspect is described as around 17-years-old, with ‘pointy facial features’, wearing dark clothes, with a chain around his neck.

Cleveland Police are appealing for anyone with information to call Detective Constable Ian Cox of Redcar CID on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

This sounds like HIGHWAY ROBBERY, in days gone by it was a hanging offence, what do offenders get now, a pat on the back and be a good boy.

Good thing they didn't do it to me - I would have panicked and driven straight after the one on the ground! Maybe not such a bad thing...
