A MAN on the run for drugs offences was arrested on Sunday evening after his girlfriend was found stabbed.

Michael Bennison, 28, was arrested in the Huntington area of York at 7pm after a two-day manhunt.

Police earlier warned that the fugitive was “extremely dangerous” and the public were warned not to approach him.

Police had been looking for him in connection with drugs offences and assault but later announced he was wanted in connction with the attempted murder of his 27-year-old girlfriend.

The woman was stabbed at an address on Healey Grove, in the Huntington area of York, at around 1pm on Friday.

She is now receiving treatment for multiple wounds, including a punctured lung, at York Hospital where medics described her condition as poorly but stable.
