A BEER brewed in Middlesbrough is set to keep the MPs in good spirits in a House of Commons bar.

North Riding will be served in the Strangers Bar after Labour MP for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland, Tom Blenkinsop, arranged for the Truefitt Brewing Company to get a barrel in the cellar.

The brewery is run by Matt Power and his wife Stephanie Truefitt (CORR) launched earlier this year.

Mr Power said: “We are passionate about beer and we are trying to brew quality products with flavour. We are really pleased that Tom has been so keen for our beer to be served in the House of Commons.

“We would like to thank everyone who has supported us so far and hope it continues along with supporting our local pubs.”

And Mr Blenkinsop added: “I am delighted and proud that it's been possible to have the beer in the House of Commons and I'm sure colleagues will enjoy what is on offer. I was pleased that Matt and wife Stephanie were able to make the journey down to London to see it on display.

“As a small and local business it is important to support their work and, hopefully, having a pint of North Riding available in the House of Commons will add to history that Truefitt are creating."
