A DARLINGTON travel store's Christmas presents appeal has enjoyed a bumper year, according to staff.

The charity drive at Co-Operative Travel, in North Road Morrisons, sees gifts collected and distributed to local charities.

However the quality of gifts has hit new highs with donations ranging from laptops to bikes.

Customer services manager Natalie Bell said: "We are surprised every year by the amount of donations, especially with how the economy is, everyone has really dug deep."

The charity began collecting the toys in November and will begin giving out the presents on Monday (December 17).
