A MAN has been arrested following a hit-and-run incident in Darlington which left a woman injured.
It happened at around 9.50pm on Thursday night when a white car pulled out of a side street on West Auckland Road and went straight across the road into a driveway and crashed into the garage.
Police tracked down the suspect, a 38-year-old Darlington man, and arrested him at a house in the town this morning (Friday, December 14).
He was taken into custody and is now being interviewed by members of Darlington CID.
The female pedestrian who was hit as the vehicle left the scene has received treatment at Darlington Memorial Hospital for minor injuries to her leg.
Police closed West Auckland Road for several hours while they investigated the incident which left the garage and house with substantial structural damage.
