A NATIONAL park photography competition gave judges a headache when it came to picking out winners.

The Yorkshire Dales National Park received more than 230 entries after the launch of the Your Yorkshire Dales National Park: A Snapshot competition earlier this year.

The aim was to find what people thought were the most important qualities of the park.

The overall winner in the adult section was Liquid Sunshine taken at West Burton Falls by Tom Collier from Hetton-le-Hole, Tyne & Wear, and the Under 18s top shot was given to six-year-old Charlotte Madley of Askrigg near Hawes, North Yorkshire, with her photograph of cows going to the fields after milking.

They each won a spot in a photo exhibition at the Dales Countryside Museum in Hawes next February; a framed copy of their image; and their picture featured in the Visitor 2013 – the official guide to the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

The full list of winners and their entries can be viewed on the Authority website at www.yorkshiredales.org.uk.
