A DRUNKEN yob who verbally abused a woman a grandmother as she travelled on the east coast main line is being sought by police.

British Transport Police have released a photograph of a man they would like to speak to following the incident on board a train as it travelled between Northallerton and York on November 24 at around 6.30pm.

PC Harry Thompson said: “A lady from Northallerton was travelling with her five-year-old granddaughter on the 17.19 Sunderland to London Kings Cross service, when a heavily intoxicated man wearing a Sunderland football shirt began using abusive language.

“When the victim asked him to stop, he continued swearing and using unacceptable language directed at her.”

He added: “We will not tolerate abusive and offensive language being used in a pubic environment and being directed at people in this way.

“If you recognise the man in the photograph, or have any information about the incident, then please get in touch.”
