HOSPITAL HOURS: A protest march is planned for Malton, North Yorkshire, on Saturday (December 15) to demonstrate against a cut in hours of the local hospital’s minor injuries unit, which has switched from 8am to 9.30pm seven days a week to 9am to 5pm five days a week. The march starts at 10am outsidet he hospital and will make its way along Newbiggin, Wheelgate, Yorkersgate, Saville Street and into Market Place.

JOCKEY CENTRE: Plans for a £3.5m rehabilitation centre for injured jockeys in Malton, North Yorkshire, have been submitted to Ryedale District Council. It is hoped that approval will be granted in February and construction could begin as early as May.
