A CENTRE that deals with family history and information on the Darlington area has reopened following renovation work.
The Centre for Local Studies, based in Crown Street Library, deals with around 10,000 enquiries a year relating to the local area and family history.
It had to close on Wednesday, November 14 to repair the original 1885 plasterwork which was damaged by rainwater in the summer.
Councillor Nick Wallis, Darlington Borough Council’s cabinet member for leisure and local environment said: “Many thanks to everyone who has been involved in redecorating the centre and returning it to its former glory.
“Both staff and customers have been extremely patient throughout the works and I am sure all will be very pleased that the centre has now reopened for business.”
Visitors to the reopened centre are invited to see the new display, Reading Between the Lines, compiled by the North Eastern Railway Association and featuring cartoons drawn for the Northern Despatch.
