SUNFLOWER SECRETS: Staff and volunteers at Hartlepool’s Warren Road Day Centre, which helps adults with learning disabilities, have created a calendar depicting them doing ordinary tasks in unusual places around the town, such as ironing in a field of cows. LUXURY LOOS: The public toilets at Middlesbrough’s Cleveland Centre won a Gold Award at the 25th annual Loo of the Year Awards. Judges commended the toilets for their high standard of decor, maintenance, cleanliness and accessibility.
TAXI FEES: Stockton Council is introducing a reduction in vehicle fees for Hackney and private hire vehicle owners of £30, a reduction of 8.2 per cent. The decision was discussed at a recent Taxi Trade Meeting and has been welcomed by local taxi trade representatives. The reduction will be introduced in January and reviewed after three years.
REFLECTIVE SERVICE: A ‘not so merry Christmas’ service will be held by Guisborough United Reformed Church on Monday, December 24 at 7.30pm. It will be a quiet service with a Bible base for those who are not feeling festive due to issues like bereavement, job loss, ill health or loneliness.
