Drugs expulsion: Three pupils have been expelled from St Peter’s public school in York for possessing and using cannabis. Head Leo Winkley said St Peter’s held its pupils to very high standards of behaviour, and problems of this nature were rare at the school.
Hotel scheme: A landmark former hotel in the centre of York is finally to be transformed, after being empty for some 30 years. Plans to create apartments on the upper floors of the White Swan Hotel on Piccadilly have been approved. The ground floor is expected to house shops.
Baking champs: A Helmsley bakery, Auntie Annie’s, is in the running for the title of Britain’s Best Bakery in the TV show of the same name which is running for the rest of the month. Film crews spent two days filing at the bakery, which will feature on the ITV1 show at 4pm on Tuesday, December 11,
