YOUNGSTERS are preparing to stage an all-singing, all-dancing show with the help of their local vicar.

The Bradley School of Dance, at Great Ayton, will be staging a production of Annie next week at the Parochial Hall in the town.

Joining them on stage will be the Reverend Paul Peverell, vicar of Great Ayton, who will play the part of American millionaire Daddy Warbucks, in the story of orphan Annie, who finds happiness and a new life at Christmas.

Known locally as Rev Pev, he said: “It’s been a great privilege being part of the Bradley’s Christmas Shows over recent years, for the youngsters are very good and versatile performers, being able to sing and dance at the same time – something I can’t do – and put on really good shows.

“They alternate between panto and musicals.

“I take my hat off to those on the stage, for if I forget my words during a sermon I can quickly make a few more up. Do that in a show and you have real problems.”

The show starts in the Parochial Hall, Great Ayton on Tuesday, December 11 at 7pm, with further evening performances that week on Wednesday and Friday and 1.30pm matinees on Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets are available £6 adults and £4 children and concessions from Great Ayton Discovery Centre or call the Box Office on 01642 -723250.
