A CITY centre will be transformed into a heavenly haven with ice sculptures lining the streets next week.

York’s Festival of Angels returns for on December 15 and 16 and will run across the Minster Quarter, including Low Petergate, Stonegate, Kings Square, Back Swinegate and St Helen’s Square.

The highlight of the festival will be 25 ice sculptures created by Glacial Art Ice Sculptors but there will be plenty for families to take part in, including an “angel trail” and an ice carving demonstration in King’s Square.

The Festival of Angels is free and will run from 10am to 6pm on the Saturday and 11am to 5pm on the Sunday.
