POLICE are searching for two people suspected of stealing alcohol from a petrol station.

Officers have released CCTV footage of a man and a woman who were caught on camera putting alcohol into a bag at the Co-op garage on the A59 between York and Harrogate at 8.20pm on Monday, November 19.

They were seen putting three bottles of vodka and six bottles of whisky into a bag the woman was carrying.

She was then seen leaving the shop without paying.

When the woman had gone, the man went to the counter and attempted to pay for a bottle of wine. But he left when he was challenged by staff about the other items.

Now officers are appealing to anyone who recognises either of the suspects to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for PC Cheryl Power or Harrogate police.

If you wish to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
