MISSING chef Claudia Lawrence and others from around the region who have disappeared from their homes will be remembered next week.

The first Missing People Northern Carol Service will take place in York on Monday and has been organised by Peter Lawrence, father of Claudia, who has been missing since March 2009.

"Each year, the charity Missing People holds a carol service in London for the families, friends and supporters of those missing,” he said.

“Both these services will take place on Monday and, given the indifferent weather, I hope that many people in the North will join us in York as all the tickets for the London one have been taken.

“No tickets, however, are needed for the York service and anyone can come and show their support for families of the missing.”

The service starts at 2.30pm at St. Chad's Church, Campleshon Road, York.

*Miss Lawrence, who was born in Darlington and brought up in Malton, North Yorkshire, was 35 when she disappeared from her home in Heworth, York, in 2009. Police are treating her case as suspected murder.
