MIRROR CRACKED: The driver's side wing mirror of a white Vauxhall Combo van parked in Newgate, Barnard Castle, was smashed some time overnight between Saturday, November 24 and the following morning. Witnesses who saw anyone acting suspiciously should contact Barnard Castle police on 101.

HEADLINE NEWS: Barnard Castle Town Council is to consider spending £75 in the next financial year on copies of the two weekly newspapers which circulate in the town. Members were told offices copies of the Darlington and Stockton Times and Teesdale Mercury would help them keep up to date with the local news.

MEETING ADJOURNED: The December meeting of Barnard Castle Town Council will resume on Monday, December 10, 6pm, at Woodleigh, on Scar Top. Due to the weight of business, not all agenda items could be discussed when councillors met on December 3. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
