A MAN was knocked unconscious when he was attacked by a gang of youths while out walking late at night.

The 38-year-old man was with a 28-year-old woman and the couple were walking near Weaver’s Green on Romanby Road, Northallerton, when the incident happened last Saturday, between 11.15pm and 11.40pm.

A little earlier the couple had spoken with two teenage girls at the mini-roundabout on Romanby Road, close the entrance for the auction mart.

And as the couple passed Weaver’s Green they were approached by the girls and a group of four or five teenage boys who then assaulted the man.

As a result of the attack he was knocked unconscious and needed medical treatment.

One of the women who spoke to the couple is described having dark hair tied in a top knot. At the time she was wearing a black and white short sleeved top.

The group of teenage boys were all around 5ft 8 to 5ft 10in tall and were wearing hooded tops.

PC Stephen Robinson said: “I need to speak to anyone who either witnessed the assault or can help to identify anyone of the youths involved in this vicious attack.”
