SANTA’S sleigh is on its way to Darlington and the surrounding area.

The Darlington Bondgate Round Table has worked hard over the last few months to renovate the sleigh in time for the busy Christmas period.

Fundraising officer Richard Warne said: “The Darlington Round Table sleigh has served Santa well over many years, but we felt it was time for a major overhaul.

"Paintwork, graphics and lighting are all being renewed meaning the Sleigh is going to look fantastic”.

The organisation and operation of the sleigh takes a lot of dedication and effort every year.

However, Round Table members say the warm reception and festive atmosphere received from the residents of Darlington make the commitment worthwhile.

The sleigh will begin its journey by visiting Middleton St George on Sunday (December 9), while both Santa and the sleigh will be on High Row from 9.30am to 4pm on Saturday, December 22. The route will take them through High Grange, Hurwoth and Mowden, finishing in High Row.

All proceeds donated to Santa will be used by Darlington Bondgate Round Table to help local good causes and charities.
