A DISTINCTIVE trike has been stolen from a layby in a remote part of Teesdale.

The Suzuki VS800 vehicle, with the registration number R245LFV, was parked on the B6278 Eggleston common, about a mile from the Weardale border.

It was stolen between 8.20am and 10.20am on Friday, November 30.

Sergeant Simon Rogers, of Barnard Castle police, said the owner had parked the trike before going for a walk in the area.

When he returned the to layby, the vehicle had disappeared.

“Due to its size, the trike would have to have been either driven away or loaded onto a sizeable trailer,” said Sgt Rogers.

Anyone with information about the theft should contact Barnard Castle police on 101 and ask for PC Mark Gibbin.
