THE death of a woman found in her Teesside flat alongside her dog is not being treated as suspicious, police said last night.
She was found dead – along with her golden Labrador dog – after officers gained entry to her upstairs flat on Bramcote Way in Thornaby at about 11.30am on Friday morning.
An initial post-mortem examination of the woman, believed to be in her early 20s, proved inconclusive and the death was being treated as unexplained - but officers told The Northern Echo yesterday that there were no suspicious circumstances.
Neighbours said they had overheard police say that next to the body of the woman was her dead dog. It was unclear last night how long they had been there undiscovered.
