AN ambulance service has been awarded a top accolade for its apprenticeship scheme.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service has been named as a Top 100 employer at the National Apprenticeship Awards in Birmingham. The list was compiled by the National Apprenticeship Service and City & Guilds for excellence in businesses that employ apprentices.

Diane Williams, from the ambulance trust’s patient transport service, said: “We are delighted to have been named in the Top 100 list and it is testament to the commitment and enthusiasm of our apprentices who have energised an entire workforce.

“By establishing this scheme the trust has been rewarded with some great staff who have relished the opportunity to work in their local ambulance service and gain valuable skills and experience.”
