SWIMMING is a talent that seems to run in the family.

Sisters Nadine and Christa Wilson, from Dishforth, both took top position in two separate swimming competitions held on the same day in Thirsk.

Four-year-old Nadine became the latest winner of the annual Kirsten Trophy – which is awarded to the youngest swimmer in the Hambleton district able to cover a length of the pool at Thirsk and Sowerby Leisure Centre.

Big sister Christa took joint first place in the biannual Tadpole Gala. The nine year old shared top spot with Adam Johnson, also aged nine, from Easingwold.

The gala aims to introduce young swimmers to competition in a friendly environment. There are races for freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke with points awarded in age groups according to finishing position Both events were hosted by Thirsk White Horse Swim Team.
