Trustees county councillor Eddie Murphy, David English and Centre Manager Alison Hirst have been actively involved in the preparations.

They said they hope the event will make up for the disappointment of the cancellation of Crook Carnival and a music festival earlier this year because of bad weather.

Councillor Murphy, who is also a board member of Crook Town Football Club who will host the fair, said it is important for the town’s community groups to work together.

He said: “I am keen that we build upon the strong community spirit Crook has to offer.

“I genuinely believe that working together we can achieve so much more for Crook.

“The Crook Community Partnership is built on strong foundations, we have a strong and committed team of trustees and we want to deliver the best we can for the people of Crook.”

The light switch on celebrations are free to enter and run from noon on 5pm with attractions including Father Christmas, dance mats, magic shows and festive stalls.
