A NEW centre for two very different indoor sports will open its doors for a test event this weekend.

Darlington Gymnastics Club and 4Motion, a new group for wheeled sports, have teamed up to find a large building on the Faverdale Industrial Estate, in Darlington, suitable for the needs of both clubs and that could be transformed into an indoor skate park and gymnastics hub.

The groups have not submitted planning permission for the scheme yet, but will hold a free event this weekend with mobile skate equipment suitable for BMXs, skateboards and scooters to determine what skaters would want from the club.

The gymnastics club has also invited parents and young gymnasts to visit the building over the weekend to get their views on the facilities they would like to see in the specialist gym part of the building.

The Faverdale building, which is bright blue and close to the entrance of the industrial estate, will be open to skaters between 10am and 3pm on Saturday and Sunday, December 1 and 2.
