BREWING UP: A coffee morning in aid of Laithkirk Church is being held at the Middleton-in-Teesdale Masonic Hall on Saturday, December 1, from 10am to 11.30am. Admission is 50p.

STOCKING FILLERS: The Carlbeck Centre, Lunedale, Upper Teesdale, is hosting Crafts for Christmas on Saturday, December 1, from 10am to 4pm. The event will feature the work of groups which meet at the centre, including hats, scarves, decorations and cakes. A raffle will be drawn on the day and refreshments will be available.

ON PATROL: High visibility police patrols are being carried out in the centre of Bishop Auckland in the run up to Christmas. Officers say they aim to provide a reassuring presence for shoppers.

CHRISTMAS FAIR: Barnard Castle School is hosting a festive fair on Sunday, December 2, from 10.30am to 3pm. The fair is one of a series of Christmas Festival events in Barnard Castle next weekend organised by the Dickens in Teesdale group and town council.
